This year, Delray Beach will honor the life of the Harriet Tubman, one if the most fascinating and inspiring figures in African-American history. The month-long celebration will include community programs and activities in collaboration with the KOP Mentoring Network, Spady Cultural Heritage Museum, The Delray Beach Historical Society, the School District of Palm Beach County, St. Paul's Episcopal Church and St. Mathew's Episcopal Church.
Palm Beach County Fifth-grade Class Reading & Art Project

Fifth-grade classes in Delray Beach will receive a copy of the featured book "Moses: When Harriet Tubman Led Her People to Freedom." Recipient of the Caldecott Honor Book, and the Coretta Scott King Medal and Honor.
Author, Carole Boston Weatherford, and illustrator, Kadir Nelson, bring to life Harriet's journey with lyrical text and powerful, expressive illustrations.
In collaboration with the School District's Office of African, African-American, Holocaust, Latino, and Gender Studies, the office will encourage classrooms to read the book and create juried essays or posters that depict how students were inspired by the story.
"Moses" Book Reading by Local Storytellers
