An illicit discharge is any pollutant entering the storm drain system that isn’t rainwater.

Examples:

  • Dumping paint, oil, or chemicals.
  • Washing vehicles into the street.
  • Leaking septic or sewer systems.

Why it matters:

  • Stormwater flows directly to waterways without treatment.
  • Pollutants harm fish, wildlife, and recreational water quality.

Report it:

  • Call the Public Works Department or use our online complaint tracker.
  • Look for dry-weather flow, foul odors, or discoloration near storm drains.
