The SWAT Team is comprised of a SWAT Commander (Lt. Mccabe), 24 SWAT Operators, and 4 SWAT Medics (Full time members of Delray Beach Fire Rescue that have completed the auxiliary police officer academy).  SWAT Team members receive ongoing specialized training and receive additional specialized equipment which allows them to resolve critical incidents involving a threat to public safety that would otherwise exceed the capabilities of traditional law enforcement or first responders. Their purpose is to increase the likelihood of safely resolving critical incidents. The SWAT Team is utilized for incidents involving hostage rescue, barricaded gunman, sniper operations, terrorism response, dignitary protection, special assignments, Active Shooter Response, high-risk security operations, high-risk apprehensions, and high-risk warrant service. Additional specialty assignments on the team include Team Leader, Squad Leader, Sniper, Breacher, Grenadier, and Technology.

Drone Unit group

The Drone Unit is comprised of 6 Officers. Sgt Grammatico is over the drone team, Officer Smith is the Drone Unit Team Leader.

The Drone Unit is responsible for assisting Officers with aerial support during critical incidents. The Drone Unit is able to provide real time information while searching for missing persons, fleeing suspects, pre-tactical reconnaissance, Traffic Crash Reconstruction, Crime Scene Reconstruction, SWAT Operations, Hostage Situations, Barricaded Suspects, Forensics Investigations and more.

All certified Drone Operators are licensed with the FAA and comply with Federal and State Laws. All Drone Operators receive ongoing training in the deployment and use of the drone.

 

Honor Guard

 

 

The Honor Guard is comprised of 14 Officers, they present the colors for special events and attend funerals for officers killed in the line of duty.

Marine Unit 2

The Marine Unit members are responsible for ensuring waterway safety within the jurisdiction of the City of Delray Beach through the enforcement of state laws and municipal ordinances. All Marine Unit members attend a Police Marine Operators Training Course and ongoing training. In addition to ensuring waterway safety, members of the marine unit will respond to boating accidents, emergencies in the water, and calls for service along the Delray Beach waterways.
