Major Gary Ferreri currently serves as the Commander of Support Services Bureau at the Delray Beach Police Department, where he oversees the daily operations of Training and Recruiting, Records/PINS section, Support Services, Special Events, Traffic/Motors Unit, Clean and Safe, School Resources Officers, and several other ancillary units. 

Previously he served as the Commander over the Criminal Investigation Section, Special Investigations, Crime Scene, and Evidence personnel. 

A dedicated public servant since joining the department in 2007, Major Ferreri brings a wealth of operational and leadership experience to his role within the organization.

Major Ferreri had also led the department’s Special Investigations Division, which includes the Vice Intelligence and Narcotics Unit, the Problem-Oriented Policing Unit, and Criminal Intelligence. 

His career has spanned a variety of impactful roles, including assignments to the Problem-Oriented Policing Team, Clean and Safe Unit, and the Investigative Division, where he worked as a detective on property crimes, violent crimes, and served with the Palm Beach County Auto Theft Task Force.

In 2020, Major Ferreri was assigned as a Sergeant in the Internal Affairs Unit, where he conducted compliance checks and investigated both internal and external complaints. His leadership extended beyond enforcement roles; he also served as PBA Union President, acting as a crucial liaison between labor and management and playing a key role in negotiating three successful collective bargaining agreements.

Major Ferreri is known for his commitment to community engagement and forward-thinking leadership. He regularly collaborates with Chief Hunter and previous Chiefs to plan major community events, such as National Night Out and employee appreciation initiatives, reflecting his belief in the power of strong community-police relationships.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from Florida Atlantic University, is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute’s Senior Management Program (SMIP), and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Employment Law and Human Resources/Risk Management at Florida State University.
