Food trucks are allowed to operate in Delray Beach, but are limited to certain areas (see map below). Rules and regulations for operating a Food Truck in Delray Beach are provided in the Code of Ordinances Sec. 120.01.

General Regulations for Food Trucks

Location Restrictions

  • Must maintain a minimum distance of:
    • 200 ft. from any brick-and-mortar restaurant or outdoor dining area
    • 15 ft. from fire hydrants and storm drainage structures
    • 20 ft. from crosswalks

Signage and Advertising

  • Standalone signage and audio amplification are not allowed
  • Advertising is limited to prices, product names, or vendor identification displayed directly on the vehicle

Outdoor Seating

  • Not permitted, except as part of an approved special event

Operating Hours and Schedule

  • Permitted to operate from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Midnight, daily
  • Allowed at an approved site for up to 4 days per week, with no more than 3 consecutive days
  •  Trucks must be removed outside of operating hours and cannot remain overnight on public streets

Waste Disposal

  • Daily trash and waste removal is required
  • No grease disposal in the city’s sanitary sewer system
  • Dumping of liquid waste or grease in tree pits, sidewalks, streets, or public spaces is strictly prohibited

Size Limitations

  • Trucks may not exceed 10 ft. in width and 24 ft. in length, including any extensions

Self-Containment and Cleanliness

  • Must be self-contained during operation
  • Trash/recycling receptacles must be securely attached to the vehicle
  • Vendors are responsible for keeping the area within 5 feet of the truck clean and free of debris

Alcohol Sales

  • Selling or distributing alcohol is prohibited unless part of an approved special event with the required liquor license

Vehicle Maintenance and Responsibility

  • Vehicles must comply with all state, city, and/or county regulations
  • Vendors are liable for any damage to streetscapes, trees, sidewalks, or public property

Vending Restrictions

  • Vendors may only sell items they are licensed to vend

Food Trucks Are Not Permitted In:

  • City parks and city-owned parking lots (unless part of an approved special event)
  • Municipal Beach, A-1-A, and public rights-of-way
  • Municipal Cemetery
  • Residential neighborhoods
  • Unimproved surfaces, vacant lots, or abandoned business locations
  • Moving vehicles conducting drive-up sales
