The simple, yet crucial act of performing CPR can be the difference between life and death. Classes are taught by lifeguards from the Ocean-Rescue Division and designed for individuals and employees to be the first responder. This class is not for Healthcare Providers.
Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) are available in all major City buildings, in all police cruisers, Fire-Rescue staff vehicles and Basic Life Support Engines, at a number of private companies, doctor's offices, and churches. These devices are proven to save lives in the event of cardiac arrest by "shocking" a patient's heart back into a regular rhythm.
American Heart Association Heartsaver AED/CPR courses are available by appointment for residents and business owners. The fee for the class is $45 per person and you must have a minimum group of 8 people in order to schedule a class.
