Residents in an evacuation zone who need transportation to a shelter may contact Palm Tran Connection’s Special Transportation Assistance Program at 561-649-9838 or 1-877-870-9849.
Medical Equipment Planning
- Plan ahead for medications, oxygen, mobility devices, batteries, chargers, and backup power. Palm Beach County Special Needs Shelters do not provide medication, dialysis, oxygen, or oxygen concentrators.
Accessible Shelters
- Palm Beach County offers a Special Needs Shelter Program for residents with qualifying medical needs. Space is limited, registration is required, and caregivers must accompany clients. For questions or registry updates: 561-712-6362 or 561-712-6400.
Service Animal Information

Service animals should remain with their owner. Bring food, water, leash/harness, vaccination records, medications, and identification for the animal. Pets that are not service animals may need to use designated pet-friendly shelter options.

Palm Beach County’s official Pet Friendly Hurricane Shelter is located at the West Boynton Recreation Center Gymnasium (6000 Northtree Blvd., Lake Worth, FL). It is only available to Palm Beach County residents who live in mandatory evacuation zones, mobile homes, or sub-standard housing.
