Missie Barletto joined the City of Delray Beach in May of 2016. As Public Works Director, she oversees the planning, construction and maintenance of the infrastructure elements of the Capital Improvement Program for Transportation, Stormwater Management, Beach Management and Facilities, and works closely with the Utilities Department on the construction of major utilities improvements within the City. The Public Works Department also manages the City’s fleet of vehicles, repairs pot holes and sidewalks, clears storm drains, sweeps streets, constructs swale improvements, maintains alleys and ensures the City’s streets are lighted.
Ms. Barletto joined the City following several years at a private engineering firm specializing in major roadway construction and almost 20 years with the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD). During her time at the SFWMD, Ms. Barletto served as a liaison to other state and federal agencies, as well as to a number of local county and municipal governments. Major projects that she was involved in included Kissimmee River Restoration, Lake Okeechobee water levels and navigation issues, and Northern Everglades Restoration. Prior to entering employment with State government, Ms. Barletto served as a newspaper reporter covering courts and local government. She also held positions as Florida Graphics Director for a newspaper chain and as a newspaper Publisher.
