Delray Beach, FL (May 22, 2025) – In compliance with Senate Bill 700, recently signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis, the City of Delray Beach will discontinue the addition of fluoride to its drinking water supply effective July 1, 2025.
“Delray Beach’s drinking water continues to meet or exceed all federal and state water quality standards,” said Hassan Hadjimiry P.E., Director of the City’s Utilities Department. “We do not expect any noticeable impact on the taste or color of the water from removing fluoride.”
The City of Delray Beach is also in the process of designing a new water treatment plant. The new water treatment plant will provide a state-of-the-art water treatment process, advance the City’s monitoring and control systems, improve water pressure, and ensure compliance with future regulatory requirements. The new plant is slated for completion in early 2028.
Residents who have concerns about fluoride are encouraged to speak with their dental care providers about alternative options. If you have question about the City’s drinking water, please call the Utilities Department at (561) 243-7100.
