At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, Delray Beach Police and Delray Beach Fire Rescue responded to a call regarding an unresponsive child found in a pool located in the 100-block of SE 7th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers and paramedics discovered a 5-year-old boy who had been pulled out of the water and was receiving CPR from a bystander. The child was immediately airlifted to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, the child sadly passed away on Monday evening. The Delray Beach Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. Preliminary findings indicate that the child, who is autistic, had wandered away from his grandmother’s care from a home located a few blocks away from the incident site.
