The City of Delray Beach Police Department welcomes United States Representative Lois Frankel to the Delray Beach Real Time Crime Center (RTCC), at 10 a.m., on Monday, April 8, at the Delray Beach Police Headquarters. The RTCC is dedicated to enhancing law enforcement capabilities through data analysis and advanced technology.
The House passed six bills for 2024, including funding for 13 local projects for Palm Beach County. Delray Beach obtained $963,000 to implement a License Plate Reader, which will enable the city to strategically place cameras to better monitor, prevent, and stop crime.
The RTCC is comprised of special equipment, including video cameras, video management software, video storage, automatic license plate readers, and data integration software.
“Our city has long prioritized the safety and wellbeing of our community,” City Manager Terrence Moore said. “Our police department’s new state-of-the-art Real Time Crime Center will create a more responsive and effective police force and an even safer city for residents and visitors to enjoy.”
The goal of the RTCC is to utilize technology to reduce property crimes and gun violence, react to crimes that are in-progress quicker, increase officer safety, and better serve and protect the community. The RTCC also allows police to gather evidence for follow-up investigations resulting in an increase in conviction rates.
This project will benefit Delray Beach residents, business owners, and visitors. The outcome will be a measurable reduction in crime, and a more agile and responsive police force.
