City Welcomes New Public Information Officer

Interim City Manager Neal de Jesus is pleased to announce that Gina Carter has joined the City of Delray Beach and will serve as the city’s public information officer. 
“Gina brings a robust set of skills and experience. I am confident her efforts will increase the community’s awareness of the wide variety of programs and events the city offers,” de Jesus said.   
Previously, Gina served as a PIO for The Broward Sheriff’s Office for six years where she responded to thousands of media requests and conducted hundreds of interviews. She is a FEMA-certified PIO with 17 years experience working in the public sector. She is a member of the Florida Law Enforcement Public Information Officers Association, the National Information Officers Association and the South Florida Media Coalition.  
In 2019 Gina began serving as the co-chair of the Southeast Regional Domestic Security Task Force’s Joint Media Workgroup. She is a graduate of the Leadership Ft. Lauderdale Class XXIII 2016-17. She has served as the chairperson for the Broward Coalition 4 Youth from 2011 - 2012 and the Diversion Coalition from 2005 - 2007.  
Gina holds a bachelor of fine arts degree and masters of fine arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. During her time in Chicago, Gina worked as a museum curator, a photographer for Chicago Magazine and a web interface developer for a social networking site.  
Gina was born in Cuba and migrated to the U.S.A. as a child with her family. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
