COMMUNITY INVITED TO PAINT CEREMONIAL SHOVELS AHEAD OF POMPEY PARK RECREATION CENTER GROUNDBREAKING
Hands-on community event allows residents to leave their mark on a milestone project
The City of Delray Beach and the Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), together with project partners, are inviting residents, families, friends, and community members to participate in a special Ceremonial Shovel Painting Day ahead of the groundbreaking for the new Pompey Park Recreation Center.
The community event will take place on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Pompey Park, 1101 NW 2nd Street, Delray Beach, FL 33444. Ceremonial Shovel Painting Day will give community members an opportunity to come together for a fun, hands-on experience and add their personal touch to the ceremonial shovels that will be used during the upcoming Pompey Park Recreation Center Groundbreaking Ceremony. For a limited time, the painted shovels will be showcased at the Creative Arts School in Delray Beach before taking center stage at the groundbreaking ceremony.
The Pompey Park Recreation Center Groundbreaking Ceremony will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Pompey Park, 1101 NW 2nd Street, Delray Beach, FL 33444. The public is invited to attend this milestone celebration, which will include a formal groundbreaking ceremony with city officials and project partners, as well as refreshments.
The new state-of-the-art Pompey Park Recreation Center is planned to feature an indoor running track, community pool, playground, and enhanced recreational and community spaces, providing residents and families with expanded opportunities for recreation, connection, and community engagement. Project partners include CORE, Randolph Construction Group, Hatcher Construction & Development, KEITH & Associates, and Justin Architects.
