Blue FlagThe City of Delray Beach is proud to announce that Delray Beach Municipal Beach has once again been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag designation for the 2026 season, marking the fourth consecutive year the City has earned this internationally recognized honor.

The Blue Flag Award, administered globally by the Foundation for Environmental Education and in the United States by the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association, recognizes beaches that meet and maintain the highest standards for environmental quality, safety, education, and management.

Delray Beach Municipal Beach is one of only three beaches in the United States to receive the Blue Flag designation for the 2026 season, joining Westward Beach in Malibu, California and Spanish River Park Beach in Boca Raton, Florida.

To celebrate this achievement, the City will host a Blue Flag raising ceremony open to the public:

“Earning the Blue Flag designation for a fourth consecutive season reflects Delray Beach’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and excellence,” said Mayor Tom Carney. “We are proud to provide a beach that meets the highest international standards while preserving our coastline for future generations.”

The Blue Flag program evaluates more than 30 criteria, including water quality, environmental management, safety services, and public education efforts. Beaches must demonstrate consistent excellence across all categories to receive and retain the designation.

Delray Beach’s continued recognition highlights the City’s dedication to protecting its coastal environment while providing a safe, clean, and welcoming destination for residents and visitors alike.
